• We believe that the ego is a biological, homeostatic, life-tool and system of measurement not a negative force of self-destruction. We teach individuals how to gain access, control and reprogram their ego to manifest and maintain any/all intentions and manifestations desired as their new reality.
• We believe that until human values, characteristics and traits are identified, mapped in the brain and are permanently altered that the next level of consciousness or the next level of life cannot be obtained or sustained regardless of will power, prayer or active meditations.
• We believe we must teach individuals how to break free from metaphysical and theological myths that continue to hold a great population in spiritual arrogance and bondage; causing a reality loop that produces spiritual bipolarism.
• We believe that there is a difference between teaching the gospel of hope verses allowing individuals to discover and integrate their own gospel of how. To be spiritually free, one must ask questions beyond their traditional gospel and theological construct to reach a state of SHOCK -- Seek Higher Omnipotent Conscious Knowledge.
• We believe we must discover, learn and integrate the biology of our own theology to create, co-create and collapse old realities into new realities by merely setting an intention or sustaining a single thought. We must learn how our brain experiences and expresses God as well as how the brain allows us to co-create with God as a God.
• We believe we were not born in sin but born in and through a state of Grace - the state of Absoluteness. We believe we are the direct incarnates and decedents of the Quantum Superposition (God) with the ability to choose and create our reality in our own image and likeness.

• People who have reached a theological/spiritual plateau and are no longer being fed from their current source of spiritual inspiration

Founding Minister

The road to success was not a smooth one for SHOCK Institute founder and spiritual director, Philippe Matthews. His life reads like a novel: family strife, illness, tragedy, financial struggles, self-discovery, reinvention, triumph, and renewal of the human spirit.

Philippe's home life mirrored the traditional American family's during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Men headed the household, while women maintained the home. At age five Philippe endured his parents' bitter divorce that disrupted not only his life but also his older sister's. In 1975, doctors diagnosed his mother with cancer and gave her three months to live. Philippe immediately dropped out of the sixth grade to take care of his mother, while his older sister worked to support the family. At this time, his mother began attending Christ Universal Temple, in Chicago, led by the Reverend Johnnie Colemon, Ph.D., which aided in extending his mother's life for another four years. At this church, young Philippe learned the basics of New-Thought metaphysics. One evening in February 1979, Philippe's mother succumbed to cancer and died in his arms. Losing his mother kicked off the beginning of several hardships he and his sister would soon face.

Even though his mother's death brought his estranged father back into his life who molested him as a young child, other misfortunes included the loss of his mother's home and the sudden death of his father two months after their reuniting. Philippe and his sister faced enormous financial struggles, and were forced to seek public assistance, working dead-end jobs to make ends meet. At the urging of his sister, Philippe pursued the trade of cosmetology.

Cosmetology offered Philippe an opportunity like no other, allowing him to pursue a career as a makeup artist, and to develop new skills strategic to his future success-writing and speaking. In 1986, Philippe published his first article for an African-American hair-industry publication, and he worked for a Chicago-based newspaper, launching a motivational column that ran for five years. By 1990, Philippe was selected as the Atlanta, Georgia, -based Upscale Magazine's first beauty editor.

Philippe soon became an observer of the methods used by successful people. And one day, watching motivational speaker Les Brown on PBS television turned his life around. Seizing an opportunity, Philippe contacted the PBS-affiliate station to arrange an interview with Mr. Brown, who then encouraged Philippe to "channel his talents and fill a need."

Philippe soon began a period of intense self-assessment and self-study. He became, by his own admission, a self-help junky, and devoured every book he could find on various topics ranging from business to personal and spiritual development.

Using his talents as a speaker, Philippe created his first seminar-"The Dynamics of Magnetism: How To Attract A Better Life For Living," for WGCI Radio in Chicago-to a sellout crowd in Chicago in 1993. In 1998, while exploring other opportunities to further spread his message of empowerment, Philippe learned about a new, powerful tool that would unequivocally change the way business would be conducted and how information would be shared worldwide-the Internet. Armed with this information, Philippe began his own Internet e-zine in 1999 (EmpowerMag.com).

EmpowerMag.com-known as the Human Potential Hub-allowed Philippe to interview the most powerful minds in the world dedicated to human potential and personal, spiritual, and professional development. Along with the launch of a successful online magazine in 2001, Rev. Philippe "SHOCK" Matthews authored his first and internationally-acclaimed book: How To Make Millions When Thousands Have Been Laid Off, featuring Stedman Graham. In 2003, Rev. Philippe "SHOCK" Matthews authored The SHOCKwealth System™, which inspired him to produce an eight-principled manifestation process known as The SHOCKphilosophy™.

Rev. Philippe "SHOCK" Matthews also launched his own TV talk and podCAST show-The Philippe Matthews Show-which featured such notable guests as Zig Ziglar, Robert Kiyosaki, Dr. John F.
