The Anatomy of the Ego:
The Science of Concentric
Sphere Shifting™

Part Two

In part one of Anatomy of the Ego, we learned that the ego is nothing more than a neurological system of measurement designed to defend and maintain a point of observation or level of consciousness.

This installment of Anatomy of the Ego discusses the psychological composition of the ego, better known as Propriospect and Idiolect.

Propriospect simply means that we are the sum of our experiences. Scientists use the term Propriospect to define the private and subjective view of the world and its contents that each person develops through their own personal experience.

Idiolect is the dialect of an individual's language. For example, no one speaks English exactly the same way you do. You have your own, distinct way of speaking. By using your particular patterns of word selections, you uniquely express yourself when you talk.

Our ego defends and reinforces these (its) two components-Propriospect and Idiolect. We reinforce the sum total of both our experiences and our language every time we label the objects, thoughts, and experiences in our reality. Remember, the Ego is just a cup that holds up our reality for us to look at and call real.

What Does the Ego Protect and Defend?

The Ego protects and defends our SES (Socio-Economic Status) comprising our income, education, residence (where we live), organizations, and memberships. The Ego also defends and protects our gender, religion or theology, uniqueness or gifts (exceptionality/non-exceptionality), race/ethnicity, nationality (country/nation beliefs), and our social class.

One reason for the apparent difficulty in changing from one concentric sphere to the next is that you can't change one aspect of your life without changing several other aspects of your life, as well. And such a large amount of change directly threatens your ego; thus incurring your ego's fight-or-flight mechanism.

You can't radically change your income without radically changing your education regarding that income shift. For instance, if your income radically increases, creating what psychologists call "sudden wealth," your ego quickly tries to keep your education, knowledge, and wisdom about money at their same level prior to the sudden income increase. This manifests through various addictions and poor money-management practices such as debting, gambling, chronic shopping, drug and alcohol abuse, etc.

If this has happened to you, you didn't necessarily have a propensity for these behaviors; but you probably did not acquire the education and spiritual wisdom (consciousness) to manage your next-level wealth. Without that information, the wealth runs you, versus you running the wealth. The same holds true for our relationships, career, family relations, and anything new that comes to us and creates a sudden shift in our thinking or consciousness.

The Ego and Symptoms of The Reality Loop

"Why do we keep repeating the same reality? Why do we keep having the same relationships? Why do we keep getting the same jobs, over and over again? In this infinite field of potential around us, how come we keep recreating the same realities? Isn't it amazing that we have options and potentials that exist, but we are unaware of them? Is it possible that we're so conditioned to our daily lives-so conditioned to the way we create our lives-we buy the idea that we have no control at all? You've been conditioned to believe that the external world is more real than the internal world."
--Dr. Joseph Dispenza ("What the Bleep Do We Know?")

Most people's experience of reality proves excruciatingly predictable. They go to church, they pray, and they live a repeat of the same problems. They pray, they go to church, and the same problems hang around. No, nothing is wrong with attending church. But if you want to make a permanent change to create a new concentric sphere, you must do, think, believe, and act differently this week than you did the previous week. Then you must repeat the doing-, thinking-, believing-, and acting-different behaviors the following week.

This is the only way the ego allows you to create permanent change in your life. Otherwise, it thinks you're just testing the waters and keeps your current reality alive and kicking! The neurological processes of the ego might even fake you out to just think you've created a change. When does this happen? When you finally find a theoretical idea for which you have language but no neural net or behavior to permanently produce.

For the record, here are a few things the ego creates, protects, and defends.

  • The ego defends a world within a world that creates make-believe happiness. You unconsciously buy into the belief that known hells are preferable to unknown heavens. You make and find heaven bandages to cover the open wounds of your inner hell.
  • The ego supports and defends your mediocrity. This homeostatic, neurological mechanism causes you to think you're right and makes you right, regardless of the freedom that exists at the next level of consciousness. You even fight for your victimization.
  • The ego, as the autopilot of your life, causes you to automatically respond the same way to the same problems and challenges in your experience, regardless how many times they show up in your life.
  • The ego creates the psychological process of procrastination to maintain your current point of observation (concentric sphere). What exactly is procrastination? A neurological function of the ego that prevents a permanent concentric-sphere shift and a sense of accomplishment. Knowledge and spiritual wisdom are the only ways to break this cycle and create a new-level consciousness and point of observation.

Part three of the Anatomy of the Ego will show you how the ego filters next-level knowledge, education, and wisdom, by creating environmental, physical, and psychological distractions in our lives. Part three will also cover the emotions of concentric-sphere shift.
